This is just another section to learn a little more about me.
Blogs, YouTube, etc.
- Kurzgesagt – Amazing YouTube Channel that puts out super-digestible ~10 minute animated videos with the purpose of helping you understand complicated topics better. This ranged from Cosmos –> Depression –> Milk.
- Wait But Why – The only blog I actually read and look forward to. Similar style to Kurzgesagt, WaitButWhy breaks down complicated topics into digestible points. They use fun little animated stick figures to help illustrate some fairly heady topics.
- Melody Sheep – Well this isn’t typically my style, but the astronomy-nerd in me really took to the stunning visual and audio experience. Always look forward to the new drops!
- Johnny Harris – he’s a bit too woke-hipster for my liking, but if I pay attention to what he’s saying and look past the beanie caps, his investigative journalism is really eye opening. Seems to be focused on the right things, and can dive deep and pull back the veil.
- James Jani – similar to Johnny Harris, James Jani digs in deep and explores otherwise misunderstood or seldom-explored topics. Fewer drops than Harris, and usually more long-form.
Podcasts
- The Prof G Pod – this includes his ancillary podcasts (Prof G Markets & Raging Moderates). I see him as a fair minded business man who doesn’t lean too far one way or another. Great storyteller, speaks honestly, and puts out a lot of great free content.
- Acquiring Minds – podcast that interviews individuals who bought businesses and walks through their journey.
- Acquisitions Anonymous – podcast that breaks down businesses for sale, and assess if the business/industry would be a good or bad deal.
- Stuff You Should Know (SYSK) – ahhh, Chuck and Josh. Love the friendly dialogue between the two, and this pod is so great for light learning. Nothing is too heady, you don’t have to pay too much attention, you can do yard work and lightly listen to them talk about The Legend of Lost Nazi Gold!
- Making Sense – Speaking of heady topics, enter Sam Harris! I typically don’t like to let others do my thinking for me, but I make an exception for Sam. He’s a really good thinker, and not afraid to speak his mind. Great pod.
Books
- Come on now, check out my books section, the best are at the top!
People
- Sam Harris – see above, I hold Sam in very high esteem and hes revolutionized my way to thinking.
- Ryan Holiday – he’s a stoic, and an author, and generally way to wise for his age (makes you wonder what you can accomplish by not drinking!). His works really help inspire me to be a better person, and a better Dad.
- Tim Ferriss – I have to keep him on the list! While I don’t listen to him as actively anymore, he was the one who gave me the courage and inspiration to enter entrepreneurship and achieve the “real world MBA”.
- Derek Sivers – introduced to me though the Tim Ferriss Experiment, Derek is wonderful character, living his life on his terms and philosophizing along the way. Not only is he a great thinker and communicator, but a very successful (yet somewhat accidental) entrepreneur.
- Scott Galloway – “Prof G”, professor, business man, and notable author/podcaster. I view him as an authority on business/economics and generally an excellent communicator.
- Jonathan Haidt – NYU professor and author leading the charge on creating regulations around young kids and screen time/social media.

Bites
- Cut Above – Hot Roast Beef sandwich, cooper sharp cheese. Probably one of the few good things JG Wentworth introduced me to!
- Napoletano Brothers – Dammi La Carne! A wonderful breakfast sandwich with a few different kinds of meat, lightly toasted, and the perfect egg within. It’s a damn near perfect breakfast sandwich!
- Bar Avalon – some of the best chicken cutlets I’ve ever had. Great date night experience!
- Brisket – Ahh, a labor of love! To do good BBQ, real good BBQ, a lot of love and care has to go into the low and slow process. A brisket done right is a biblical-type experience.
- Lobster Roll – I learned about the lobster roll a little late in life, growing up in lowly Delaware, but I soon learned how much I had been missing out on and have been trying desperately to make up for the lost time!
- Paella – just in general! Not something you’ll find on a lot of menus. Before our first born in 2020, we stayed at this otherwise unremakable “resort” in key west right before COVID. Restaurant connected to it had Paella and it was out. of. this world.
- Molcajete – a Mexican dish prepared in a lava-rock bowl, and is soupy with a bunch of meat, spices, onion. Jam packed full of flavor, and you can usually wrap up some tortillas with rice and live your best life!
- Jerk Chicken – real proper Jamaican jerk chicken is a real special meal.
